Customizing the Look and Feel of ActivatorDesk and Windows:
ActivatorDesk provides uniform Windows desktop customization control. ActivatorDesk uses its own graphical 'skins' to alter its own look and feel. In addition, ActivatorDesk may control standard Windows themes and schemes. Standard Windows themes and schemes can be easily matched to the ActivatorDesk skins to provide a truely unique and uniform appearing Windows desktop with all of this easily controlled via the ActivatorDesk Go Button menu system. Finally, the media source directory may house custom Flash media files made with Macromedia's Flash. Since ActivatorDesk aligns itself with the Windows logged in user, skins will automatically change to the skin preferences of that user accordingly.
Shown at left is the Go Button menu changing the selection of an ActivatorDesk skin. The menu list of installed skins will appear automatically. This menu list will expand as additional available skins are installed. To switch to a new skin, simply select a new skin from the menu to use. ActivatorDesk will then transform itself into the new look and feel of the newly selected skins.
Similarly, the Themes menu and Schemes menu selections may be used to switch installed standard Windows Themes and Schemes configurations placed in the ActivatorDesk Media subdirectory. Themes are standard to those made in Windows Plus. (This produces a '.theme' configuration file that is usually accompanied by graphics files.) Schemes can be commonly produced using Windows Control Panel Display Properties. (this produces a '.scheme' Windows configuration file)
Skins, Themes, and Schemes may then be readily mixed and matched and installed in one process. The result is a Windows desktop utilizing accepted Microsoft standards for graphics manipulation. A desktop may have a matched uniform graphical display for eiher personal use or for a professional company-wide or institutional image. Desktops that enhance viewability and functionality may also positively impact productivity and learning.
Download of Developers Source Files:
If you are developer of skins and wish to develop skins and Windows .theme and .scheme configuration files for a custom, uniform ActivatorDesk desktop, you may download the following source files. Instructions are revealed in the source configuration files and actual ActivatorDesk bitmap skins as samples for development purposes.
Download Elegant Skin Source Click: Elegant.Zip
Download Stealth101 Skin Source Click: Stealth101.Zip
To submit your unique skins for download from our websites, please attach and send send complete archived configurations to skins@activatordesk.com.
Developers Technical Note: - ActiivatorDesk graphical skins are standard Windows bitmap (.bmp) files and all configuration files for skins(.skin), standard Windows themes(.theme), and schemes(.scheme) are kept in the main applications subdirectory called 'Media'. These are virtually identical to .ini type files that may be readily edited using any text editor. Further, subdirectories are named after the 'root' configuration files and contain source files. In this way skins, standard Windows themes and schemes can all be managed, for the first time, by the one desktop program. For more information click more
