ActivatorDesk(tm) Advanced Internet Desktop on-board help support system

Aligning with Windows Security Profiles - ActivatorDesk aligns with User Profiles in existing Windows security and compliments it with features not available in Windows for enhanced desktop security.
Create a Master Security Database and Distribute It!
The ActivatorDesk full-install program permits easy free distribution of a preconfigured Master Control Database over a network or on CDRom disks. The procedure is very simple to lock-down tens or hundreds of desktops in a very short period and in a very very low-cost way. No knowledge of Windows security scripting is even required.

Method One: Default New User
  1. Set Default New User Settings: On a Master PC load ActivatorDesk Administrator and set the Default New User Settings to the mimimum desktop security required.
  2. Copy the Database: Copy the Master Database generated and the ActivatorDesk install program to a CDRom or Shared Network Directory.
  3. Install and Reboot: Run the install on the remote PCs or machines then run the Agent program on the remote machine and reboot Windows. Each new Windows User logging in will have the Default New User settings imposed as minimum desktop lockdown settings.
Method Two: Import Windows Profiles Names
  1. Set Default New User Settings: On a Master PC with all of your Windows User accounts installed load ActivatorDesk Administrator and set the Default New User Settings to the mimimum desktop security required.
  2. Import Windows Profiles Names: Click the button on Administrator Import Windows User Names (see dialog above) and check the user names to generate accounts for. Also, choose what users to import or copy Favorites and Program shortcuts from, then click Import. This will generate all the corresponding accounts in the ActivatorDesk Master Database.
  3. Copy the Database: Copy the Master Database generated and the ActivatorDesk install program to a CDRom or Shared Network Directory.
  4. Install and Reboot: Run the install on the remote PCs or machines then run the Agent program on the remote machine and reboot Windows. Each new Windows User logging in will have the Default New User settings imposed as minimum desktop lockdown settings. Assigned Windows Users will be recognized and the appropriate settings or desktop restrictions imposed.
Important Note: During either method above, the Administrator may also create new accounts in the database using the 'New' accounts button, if the destination PCs have additional user accounts already installed. The Default New User settings may also be changed and select Groups of accounts generated with corresponding levels of access established.
Manage Desktops Over a Network or the Internet - Administrators may log into desktops over a local network or over the internet to make changes to desktop security. For more information click Remote Management

Windows Desktop Security Cannot Be Easier:
It simply does not get easier to customize desktops lock-down security than making a simple database and having all your security settings automatically distributed as you install ActivatorDesk on your desktops. Here is generally how it works:

  1. Root of CD or Network Share - Install the full-install of ActivatorDesk (now ActDesk50.Exe) into the root network or CD ditrectory.
  2. Data Subdirectory - Create a subdirectory or folder named 'Data' and place your custom Master Database (ActData.adb) into it.
  3. Wallpaper - Create a subdirectory or folder named 'Wallpaper' and place wallpaper files (see filenames below) into this directory. These must be named EXACTLY as below for the appropriate resolution to be installed by the ActivatorDesk installer.

Auto-Installing and Locking Down Wallpaper and Desktop Settings: Two switches in the database cause automated remote installation of wallpaper, 'Enable ActivatorDesk Wallpaper' and 'Disable Desktop Settings'. If the Master Database turns-off user access to Desktop Settings then wallpaper is installed and 'locked-down', it may not be changed along with other desktop configurations.
